My Daughter's Painting Sold

I wanted to share with you a painting my daughter, Karen, painted.  This pictures was sold in a gallery in Santa Fe, NM, where she and her husband, Ron and family live, to an art collector in Japan.  We are so excited for her.  Our congrats Karen!  My son-in-law jokingly said on Facebook that it is time for her to paint another one or two or ten or a thousand so he can retire!

Vicksburg Art Association Showing

Marian and I attended the Spring Art Show Saturday evening and was really nice.  Since Marian  took most of the pictures, you can go to her site and check out what took place.  I only took a few pictures that are shown below.  My art teacher thought it best that I not show at this time but go and see what it's all about and familiarize myself with what is done and the different categories that are entered.  I will place in the Fall Art Show.  I'm looking forward to picking out 3 of my paintings that I want  to show.

This year's Exhibitions Judge was Dan Piersol.  Dan has 30 years experience in the art field.  He was also Curator of Prints and Drawing at the New Orleans Museum of Art and more recently Deputy Director for Programs at the MS Museum of Art.

Showing him getting ready to place the 2nd best in show which was a 3-Dimensional by Leah Norris and you can view on Marians blog site.  Just so happens that he is standing near my art teacher's painting of a little boy by the water which was a copy of a picture of her son.

Took this somewhat blurred picture of Marian checking out the paintings with the lime green purse.

Joining The Vicksburg Art Association

Yesterday, I joined the Vicksburg Art Association, but will not put any of my paintings on exhibit for now.  I will wait until the fall exhibit.  It really came up so fast and was so involved with Marian's nephew getting married one weekend and then a flea market to get ready for the next.  Marian, Joyce, my art teacher at the Senior Center and I went there to sign up and to look around the Old Constitution Firehouse on Main Street where it will be held.  At this time Joyce took her 3 paintings to show.  The Spring 2012 Members Exhibition will be April 28, through May 2, 2012.  A reception will be this Saturday from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  Looking forward to meeting other artists and hopefully getting some good tips. Joyce also has a blog, Art~C~Lady, if you want to take a look at her beautiful paintings.
